LO: to research codes & conventions of similar products

Create a homepage and one linked web page for a health & fitness website targeted at an audience primarily of 14-18 year olds.

These websites mainly include pictures/videos on their home screens along with the title of the webs name. They include information about topics to click on, sending you to a page about it. They have links to other sites and topic pages within their website. There is a menu bar as well. Information about the site at the very bottom.
There are mostly images of random people doing (in this case) exersises or having fun mostly. Within the health section there could be images of healthy foods, like a pie chart. There could be images of phycology and mental health pics (a woman looking depressed or the opposite).

There are different colour schemes within websites it could either be monotone with dark colours or bright uplifting colours to appeal the viewers eyes. Its chosen to match the style of the website and the font used, as well as the images and whats its all about. Its mostly the creators choice but needs to look presentable and no messy colours fighting with one another.

The logo is in the top right and has to link with the subject to match its theme. The design should link to the vibe of the website in general though. The fonts on the homepage can be different but would be reasonable to keep it up to 3 or 4 fonts so it doesn't look messy.  The text is organised in the linked pages as neat most of the time to complement the layout of the website. On the linked pages the text can vary but need needs to have a complimenting match with one another.

There could be 5 pages in the menu bar at the very top of the page.
There are lots of information in the link page and in the feed the most useful and main text.
Linked pages can look similar to the homepage as there should be a theme that contrasts together nicely.
Linked pages are linked out with images but more text, not as in your face as the homepage.

The purpose of this website is for teenagers who are interested of improving their health or fitness and don't know where to start, it includes: fitness, mental health, general health and sexual health. It can also include tips for exams or relationship advice, they also have quizzes on some. It just overall helps teens with school life and personal life.
The target audience is teens which is why they add in bits and bobs about school and exam tips as they know it would help whilst on the site. Teens who view this will be able to access loads of information but mostly health and fitness.

What i will be researching today : sole2soul

main page

link page with image from menu bar

link page with info

1) Written codes and conventions: The imagery has to relate to the overall topic of the site with either illustrations or visual photography. The layout is simple for the viewer so the information they need is easy to find. The typography used in a mix that compliment each other so the lettering fonts don't clash.

2) The difference between the homepage and link page is that there is a main cover line image. It can be of any media choice that catches the viewers eye to make them interested in the website (the lay out helps too). There is a brief summary about the website with its link pages on the home page. The link page focuses on a certain topic that overviews the bigger, main topic. The link pages brief over certain parts that viewers would look at (it includes information and contact info).

3) In sole2soul a mental health page ideologie is effected to the audience as many teens struggle with mental health. The ideologue of keeping a healthy mind can link in with fitness as a whole, keeping your whole body happy and healthy, the benefits can target the teens as the information is all in one website.

4) The logo is a white illustration all prettied up suggesting the target audience is more aimed towards girls as stereotypically they like flowers more. The slogan is sole2soul which is well thought about and is easy to remember (which is important). The color scheme is mostly black an white with warm colors thrown in.

5) They use a color palette that is easy to the eyes without clashing color's making the website aesthetically pleasing to look at. The typography uses fonts that go well with each other making the title/head titles bigger size as well as the parts that need to be seen, the normal size of whatever font is used is to create contrast with the page as well as making it clear its the information to read.

6) The target audience is teenagers that are looking into fitness websites to help them with their health/mental health around with fitness. The website appeals to them if it it has a nice layout that they would be attracted to.

7) The images show the what the website gets across and just adds to it with less information.

8) Videos show the emotion and feeling behind it (if there are videos).

1) There are bright colors appealing to a teen audience with a layout that is varied so the viewer doesn't loose interest.

2)The homepage has more images and shortcuts to other pages as the link pages focuses on a topic like other websites.

3) The ideas with how to be healthy mentally and physically helps the viewer to learn about their own fitness with revision tips for them as well.

4) The color scheme has bright colors that pop in the eye if the viewer with a slogan looking like adidas that produces a theme of modernised layout in websites that contrasts to the color pallet.

5) They use typography with bold fonts to make it stand out and goes well with the layout and that.

6) The target audience is for teens who want to know about health more.

7) The images show children proving its targeted towards teens with images of them in schools and being fit.

8) no vids
